The Rev. David DeSmith,
Priest/Rector, grew up in the Finger Lakes area of western New York
(near Rochester, his home diocese). He received a Bachelor of Music
degree from Potsdam – State University College of New York and
subsequently taught public school music in the Rochester area for 14
years.
In 1987, he entered Bexley Hall
Episcopal Seminary fulltime and graduated with a Master of Divinity
degree in 1990. He was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church
that same year and a priest in February of 1991.
Before coming to St. David’s in
October of 2003, he served churches in Western Massachusetts, as
well as, Interim Dean of Trinity Cathedral in Easton, Maryland.
Presently, David serves on the Stewardship Commission as a parish
consultant and is a member of the Millennium Development Goals Task
Force in the diocese of Newark,.
David resides at the rectory with
his domestic partner, John Simonelli. David’s pastoral specialties
include pastor, preacher, church growth and development,
stewardship, outreach, and spiritual guidance. His hobbies include
reading, writing, hiking and sitting in a rocking chair near any
body of water!
